    ​More than 150 establishments specialized in the manufacture of fodder are under supervision in the eastern sector of the "Food and Drug Administration"​

    On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, the Asharqia Chamber, represented by the Agriculture and Food Committee, in cooperation with the Food and Drug Authority, held a workshop that reviewed the feed industry and its most prominent challenges, at the Chamber's headquarters.

    The Director of the Feed Department at the Authority, Abdul-Ilah bin Muhammad Al-Nujaimi, confirmed that practicing the activity must obtain a license from the Authority by the conditions and requirements specified by the regulations, so that the Authority - after that - licenses the establishments through the National Feed Registry System, and monitors them through inspection visits, monitoring programs, and product registration. Through the National Feed Registry System, according to the classifications approved by the Authority.

    Al-Nujaimi said during the workshop, which was moderated by the Chairman of the Committee, Mohammed bin Nasser Al-Dayel, that the total number of registered products from 2015 to 2022 is more than 12,000, noting that the total number of establishments under the authority’s supervision in the eastern sector is more than 150. establishment.

    He pointed out that all establishments are evaluated and motivated to raise the quality of their products. After each inspection visit, the establishment is provided with the evaluation result of the visit, through the "Taqeem" program, which was developed to ensure the establishment's commitment to applying health and safety standards, reducing wrong practices within the establishment, and ensuring optimal application. For safety programs in establishments and their workers, support for non-oil exports, raising the level of competitiveness between establishments, enhancing the reputation and quality of the local product, informing the consumer of the evaluation results of establishments according to the dates specified on the authority’s website at the end of each calendar year, and raising consumer confidence in the local product.

    Regarding electronic self-assessment, Aban Al-Nujaimi, that it is an initiative that aspires to create the highest levels of commitment and compliance with the regulations, requirements, and conditions related to the Food and Drug Authority. This is done through the establishment's self-assessment of itself and measuring the extent of its compliance with the relevant laws, regulations, and requirements, and then the establishment takes the necessary corrective measures to correct its situation.

    The program aims to raise the percentage of transparency in the establishments’ dealings with the Food and Drug General Authority, increase the establishments’ awareness of the requirements and conditions, and list all requirements and requirements and present them in an easy and updated manner for the facility. Cases of non-conformity, preparing facilities for the visit of the authority's inspector, and reducing the chance of committing violations during inspection visits.​
